Hans Christian Schmidt (born 25 August 1953) is a danish politician and has been the Minister for transportation. A teacher by profession, he was the Danish Minister of Food from 2004 to 2007. Before that, he was the Minister for the Environment from 2001. He is a member of the Liberal Party, and has been a member of the Folketinget (parliament) since the 1994 Danish parliamentary election.
Schmidt was born to Holger and Ingrid Schmidt, who lived and worked on a farm. He was a school teacher in Vojens until 1984 before entering government. He is a long time resident of the town of Vojens in southern Denmark (Jutland).
